I have finished my totally free trial teaching last month, because I have received my certificates and accumulated enough practical teaching experience.

At present, I am confident of my teaching, so I start to charge my students.

However, I still offer 1 time (2 hours) free lesson to let my students experience my teaching.

[My Students] 008. Ilia Mirkin's Comment

I have taken Chinese lessons from Peter for over 3 months. Peter has been a great teacher, full of enthusiasm and energy, ready to tackle any question regarding the nuances of the Chinese language.

Peter strongest qualities are his high energy level, creativity, and ability to explain difficult topics from many different angles. Peter helped me stay focus and learn Chinese for 2 hours at a time. Whenever I had a difficulty with understanding a certain word or topic, Peter came up with many different examples of the top of his head. He would continue this focused brain storming until the matter at hand became clear. Sometimes I felt completely lost and Peter would always find a way to explain the topic.

Peter has taught me intermediate level Chinese. He has quickly adjusted to my level and found ways to keep me challenged. His examples and exercises were right for my level and he would always try to make things challenging so that I can quickly grow and improve my Chinese.

I have had many Language exchanges and Chinese teachers while learning Chinese in Taiwan, I can truly say Peter has been an exceptionally good teacher. Take a test class with Peter and see for yourself.

[My Students] 001. 成瀬正和's Comment

私は、2005年6月に、ワーキングホリデイビザを利用して、1年間カナダに留学しました。

1年間のカナダ滞在で、生涯、最高の友人と言える人間に出会いました。
それがピーターです。

彼は、親日家で、日本の政治、歴史、文化、語学に精通しており、
彼と仲良くなるには、多くの時間は必要としませんでした。

また、好奇心旺盛で、日本だけでなく、海外の事にもたくさん興味を持ち、

彼と一緒にモントリオール市内を探検したり、オタワ、ケベックシティなどの周辺の都市にも旅行しました。

彼と一緒にいた期間はわずか、3ヶ月足らずですが、一番印象に残っている事は、図書館で、
お互いの国の歴史や文化について、英語で語り合った事です。

ピーターは、真面目で、親切、好奇心、向上心旺盛、また、一緒にいておもしろく、楽しい人間です。

**Note by Peter:
 
MASA was one of my language exchange partners in Canada and is my best Japanese friend. There has been a close relationship between Japan and Taiwan for a long time, which made it enjoyable  for us to do language exchanges together. We talked about our countries’ history, politics, economies, life styles and languages.

Although we met in 2005, we still keep in touch with each other now. When we did our LE, I tried to think of how I should help him and my other LE partners, so they would learn Chinese faster. Therefore, I read some books on teaching methods and started to accumulate practical Chinese teaching experience from that time.

It is my sincere pleasure to recommend Peter as a Mandarin tutor and teacher. I have been studying with Peter for just a few months, but within that short time I feel my Mandarin has improved exponentially.

While I feel that some Chinese teachers' unconcious goal is to merely practice their English with foreigners, Peter genuinely wants you to learn. He will use as little English as possible (even though his English is excellent) in communicating with you; not just in class, but over the phone, text messages and emails.

While this may sound challenging, he understands that this is the quickest and best way to foreign language acquisition. After each engaging class, I often feel exhausted, but with a real feeling of accomplishment and a mind actively humming in Chinese!
I look forward to continued study with Peter for as long as I'm in Taiwan or as long as he's available.

[My Students] 010. Ian Beattie's Comment

Peter is a very capable teacher and I have enjoyed meeting with him over the last couple of months. His teaching has been a valuable addition to my full time Mandarin studies, helping me to improve my pronunciation in an one on one environment. As often is the way in language learning what is taught in textbooks is not always the most natural everyday language and I have found his input in regards to this has been useful.

I have studied Chinese with a number of people and have found Peter has a modern approach to language teaching with his classes placing more emphasis on conversation than purely looking over textbooks.

Peter is very friendly and easy to talk to, I think that these are very important qualities in a teacher as it helps you relax and improves your motivation to study.

I would recommend him to other learners of Mandarin.
