Picasso exhibit coming to Taipei

An art exhibit featuring works from masters such as Picasso and Van Gogh is coming to Taipei at the end of next month. The exhibit will take place at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum

“Manet to Picasso: Masterpieces from the Philadelphia Museum of Art” is an art exhibition to be held at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum starting next month. The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and the Franz Collection are behind the event.

Impressionism and modernism are the main themes to the exhibition. Artworks selected from 33 famous artists, including Picasso, Van Gogh, and Cezzane, will feature 53 oil paintings and five bronze sculptures.

This exhibition is a classic presentation brought by the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It features 19th century’s impressionism and post-impressionism, and 20th century’s modernism and contemporary avant-garde art. People can see a collection of works that represent different eras all at once.

The founder and CEO of the Franz Collection, Francis Chen, hopes to present an opportunity for the people of Taiwan to gain more exposure to aesthetic forms, in order to expand their cultural horizons. He said the typical curriculum in Taiwan doesn’t include enough art appreciation.

The average educational program in the schools, I think an average student can get 720 hours education. I do believe it's not enough at all.

When asked about the many Picasso artworks stolen during the past week, the deputy director of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Chen Wen-Ling, said the museum has a theft prevention system that will be fully implemented.

Ticket are now on sale for the exhibition that will take place from June 26th to September 26th.

畢卡索展覽

今年暑假台北市立美術館將與費城美術館以及法藍瓷有限公司共同策劃推出「馬 內到畢卡索－費城美術館經典展」，展出包括畢卡索、樊谷等19至20世紀間現代重量級藝術家真跡作品，是今年夏天難得一見的美術饗宴。

由台北市立美術館，美國費城美術館，以及法蘭瓷有限公司所引進的「馬內到畢卡索 - 費城美術館經典展」，將從下個月開始在台北市立美術館展出。

印象派以及現代主義將會是這次展覽的主題。展出的作品總共有53件油畫，及5件青銅雕塑。這些作品都出自33位大師，包括畢卡索，梵谷，以及塞尚等。

法蘭瓷有限公司董事陳立恆表示，他希望能藉此展覽讓台灣的民眾有機會去接觸更多的藝術與美學，更加的擴大國人文化的水平。他表示，台灣的基本教育沒有充分的提供美學教育。

而被問及過去一個禮拜世界各地所失竊的名畫，北美館代館長陳文玲表示，這個展覽有嚴密的保全設施，展覽期間將會全程實施。
展覽會從6月26號開始一直到9月26號為止，門票已經開始販售。
