宏觀週報 - National Day Fireworks in Taipei 國慶煙火在台北

The annual Double Tenth National Day fireworks display attracts tens of thousands of spectators each year. 每年的雙十國慶施放煙火都吸引上萬人前往觀賞。

One of the main attractions at each year’s Double Tenth National Day celebrations is the fireworks display, a tradition which has been in vogue for half a century. After a four-year absence, this year’s fireworks will return to Taipei to accompany the afternoon’s “Happy Anniversary Walk – March for 100 Years of Glory”and make Taipei City sparkle even brighter. This year, the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission also offers compensation for either travel expenses or a health checkup, welcoming overseas compatriots to return Taiwan in droves and join in with the celebrations.

每年的雙十國慶，施放煙火都是重頭戲之一，而且這個傳統已經延續半世紀之久。睽違4年之後，今年的國慶煙火將重返台北市施放，配合當天下午的「生日快樂齊步走‧百年榮耀大遊行」，將讓台北市更加燦爛奪目。僑委會今年還提供旅遊或健檢補助二選一，歡迎海外僑胞踴躍返台，共襄盛舉。

The preparatory committee for the Republic of China’s 99th anniversary celebrations recently decided that this year’s theme would be “Cherish what you have and be grateful, search for excellence, sustain national competitiveness.” The event will begin on October 10 at 9:30 a.m. on the plaza in front of the Presidential Office with ethnic performances and other colorful shows. The afternoon will feature a carnival-style parade of floats to prepare for the 100th anniversary celebrations. The National Day fireworks will take place at the No.3 water gate on the Tamshui River in Taipei, while the National Banquet will for the first time move to the outlying islands and take place at the Penghu County Stadium.

中華民國各界慶祝99年國慶籌備委員會日前決定，今年的國慶大會主題是「惜福感恩、追求卓越、永續國家競爭力」，活動將於10月10日上午9時30分在總統府前廣場舉行，有民俗表演等精彩活動；下午則有一場嘉年華式的花車大遊行，為建國百年活動暖身。晚間的國慶煙火選在台北市淡水河3號水門施放，國慶晚會則首度移往離島澎湖縣立體育場舉行。

The tradition of holding a fireworks show on Double Tenth National Day began in 1953, with the vicinity of the Presidential Office Building as its location. After the 1960s, when the volume of fireworks shot into the sky rose from dozens of rockets to thousands or even tens of thousands, security considerations forced the event to move to the banks of the Tamshui River. According to estimates, people who venture outside to admire the fireworks show number in the hundreds of thousands, while innumerable amounts of others watch the event live on television, turning it into a beautiful memory jointly enjoyed by all people.

雙十國慶施放煙火的活動，從民國42年就開始了，最早的施放地點在總統府附近，1960年代以後，因為煙火數量從數十發增加到數千、甚至數萬發，為了安全起見，改到台北市淡水河河畔水門施放。根據估計，每年走出戶外觀賞煙火秀的人，都高達數十萬人，透過電視轉播欣賞的更是不計其數，可說是一場全民共享的美麗回憶。

Since 2000, the National Day fireworks have been staged around the country by places like Kaohsiung County and City, Taichung, Taoyuan, Chiayi and Pingtung. In 2008 it took place in Vice President Vincent Siew’s home region of Chiayi City but in 2009 it was canceled due to the August 8 Typhoon Morakot disaster. After an interlude of several years, the fireworks are returning to Taipei for a show lasting from 50 minutes to one hour.

2000年起，國慶煙火移師各縣市輪流舉行，包括高雄縣市、台中、桃園、嘉義、屏東等地，2008年在副總統蕭萬長的故鄉嘉義市舉行，2009年台灣發生八八水災，國慶活動全部取消。睽違多年之後，今年國慶煙火總算又回到台北，施放時間預計長達50分鐘至1小時。

Worth a special mention in this year’s National Day celebrations is the “Happy Anniversary Walk – March for 100 Years of Glory.” The marchers will start from the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and walk along Renai Road which will be covered in flags all the way to the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. Dozens of floats and giant balloons will pass by while cheerleaders, drum bands and acrobatic troupes will perform, turning the streets of Taipei into one massive exciting carnival.

今年的國慶活動中，特別值得一提的是「生日快樂齊步走‧百年榮耀大遊行」，隊伍將從台北中正紀念堂出發，行經旗海飄揚的仁愛路到國父紀念館；數十部花車與空飄大型氣球，串連啦啦隊、鼓號樂隊、雜技團等表演，讓台北市街頭化身熱鬧繽紛的大型嘉年華。

OCAC Minister Wu Ying-yih warmly invites overseas compatriots from all over the world to return to Taiwan. Apart from their participation in the Overseas Compatriots Celebrations for National Day at the Taipei Arena and the attendance of the National Day celebrations, the OCAC is also arranging for the overseas compatriots to admire the fireworks display, experience the sensation of the pyrotechnics, and witness the applause of the crowds on location to welcome the arrival of the 100th year of the Republic of China in the midst of masses of enthusiastic spectators.

僑委會委員長吳英毅熱切邀請全球僑胞返台，除了參與在小巨蛋舉行的四海同心聯歡晚會及國慶大會外，還將安排僑胞欣賞國慶煙火，體驗煙火爆破的震撼力、臨場感與觀眾的歡呼聲，在萬眾歡騰聲中，迎接建國百年的到來。
